Welcome Back

Welcome back to another exciting school year. This year proves to an exciting year, with a lot of events happening. TWO ensembles from LSW were selected to perform on the Missouri Music Educator’s Conference and Workshop at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, MO. This is one of the most prestigious performance invitation any group could hope to receive at any level of performance from beginning to college. The Symphonic Band, directed by Clifton Thurmond and Una Voce directed by Amy Krinke will both perform at this year’s conference. Congratulations!

Thank you Music Parents!

The 2010 Ice Cream Social was an overwhelming success! Many thanks to the outstanding work of our Music Parents and even more thanks to the parents, friends and family who came out to support the students. It should go without saying, but obviously the students created incredible music to keep everyone entertained. The directors would like to say thanks:

Tuesday Night Ice Cream Social

Join us in the LSW Courtyard for our annual Ice Cream Social, featuring bands, choirs, and orchestras in performance! Each group has a slightly different call time, but plan to join the fun at 6:00. See you there!

Be Sure and Check the Calendar

Events for 2010 Titan Pride are updated on the calendar. Be sure and update your calendar, and check back to make sure everything is up to date.

Required Parent/Student Meeting

Parents and students, here is the information concerning the required meeting. A parent and the student need to be in attendance. There are three options as you see on this letter from Mrs. Katzfey. If you cannot make one of these, it will be your responsibility to accomplish fulfilling the requirement before August 28th, our first performance.

Any student not having completed this task by then will not be able to march in our first game. Thank you in advance for following through with this.

Meetings are this Wednesday or Saturday. See the letter for time and place.

LSW Music Department on Twitter

Summer is a slow time to roll out a new feature to communicate with parents and students, but we’re doing it nonetheless!

The Lee’s Summit West Music Department has a new account on Twitter. Sign up to follow us for information ranging from summer camp and concert reminders to practice test reminders, etc.... We’ll hope to have this as just one more option to keep the lines of communication open between the school and home. Let us know what you think!

Calendar Updated

Thanks to Mr. Thurmond, you can check the calendar section of the website for next year’s dates - at least the ones we know now. While you’re at it, take a moment to learn how to sync the titanmusic.org calendar to your computer or mobile device. It’s the 21st Century!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to all the groups who performed at contest this past weekend. Every performing ensemble received a “I” rating and our school and music parents organization are to be commended for a fine showing at the first contest every hosted at LSW. It’s a good day to be a Titan! Way to go!
