Program Description:
Digital Media Technology program at Summit Technology Academy gives students a chance to get hands-on learning experience with some of the tools of audio and video editing/production.
Students begin by working on live sound (PA) equipment while also creating MIDI compositions in Reason. Students also have a chance to work with computer audio recording with Apple's Logic Studio.
Students also work with video recording and editing using Final Cut Studio video editing suite.
Students:
Students generally come to STA with a wide range of musical tastes and skills. Some students consider themselves musicians while others claim to have no musical ability. While it's helpful to have some understanding of the terms that one uses in music, it's not a requirement.

Kirt Mosier and Shawn Harrel teach the morning and afternoon sections of DMeT respectively. Mr. Mosier was involved in the research and creation of the class and Mr. Harrel joined the staff in Fall 2005 when enrollment reached the maximum limit for a single section.Mosier and Harrel teach instrumental music at Lee's Summit West high school and each has a masters degree in music composition.

The DMeT classroom at STA has 8 PowerMac G5 computers, and 3 Intel MacPros, all with 20" flatscreen monitors. Additionally, we have 4 white iMacs and 5 new aluminum iMacs. The classroom's main computer has dual 21" flatscreen monitors and a MOTU 896HD Firewire audio recording device. Other computers are equipped with Edirol UA25 audio recording devices or M-Audio Fast Track Pros. Each computer has a MIDI keyboard: 25-, 49-, and 61-key M-Audio, Edirol and E-MU keyboards.
